The fabulous Buckinghams are back! The Chicago “American Sunshine pop” group formed in the late sixties and took off like a rocket ship. They named themselves the Buckinghams after the famous fountain of the same name in Grant Park!
The Buckinghams’ first hit single was “Kind of a Drag,” immediately hitting the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. Four more Top Twenty hits came soon after: “Don’t You Care,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” “Hey Baby,” and “Susan.” In 2001, The Buckinghams joined the Solid Gold 60s tour along with Tommy James, The Turtles, Gary Puckett and The Grass Roots. In 2012, they teamed up with Micky Dolenz of The Monkeys fame for the Happy Together Tour. The band remains a mainstay of classic rock radio stations all over the country. They have played at the inaugurals of presidents Bush and Obama.
