Chicago’s legendary sketch and improv comedy theater returns with a new show featuring hilarious sketches, songs, and improvisation about Palos Hills and Moraine Valley Community College to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the arts center. Doing what they do best, The Second City finds laughs in everything from local history, events and hot-button issues to headlines from the Daily Southtown and the Glacier student newspaper, and mixes these with a generous portion of classic Chicago-style sketch and improv.
Chicago is ground zero for improv comedy. Starting at the historic Hull House with acting teacher Viola Spolin, then Mike Nichols and Elaine May, along with Spolin’s son and producer Bernie Sahlins, The Second City has become a landmark in the history of comedy. Its alumni include Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, Gilda Radner, Steve Carrell, John Belushi, Tim Raines, Michael Che, Stephen Colbert, Bob Odenkirk, and the list goes on and on. “Saturday Night Live” annually raids Second City for new cast members.
