Mariachi music lovers, come to see the Mariachi Divas October 17 at the Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills and stay at the nearby and affordable Best Western Inn and Suites Midway Hotel!
The Mariachi Divas are an all female music ensemble, a two time Grammy Award winner and six Grammy Award nominations band. They are dedicated to the unique music flavor of Los Angeles. In 2009, Mariachi Divas made history by becoming the National Recording Arts and Science’s first all female band to win a Grammy.
Mariachi Divas founder and trumpet player Cindy Shea says she knew she would be a professional musician at the age of eight. She studied with jazz trumpet icon Bobby Shew, who played with Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Benny Goodman, Barbra Streisand and many other jazz legends. A self-styled gringo, Cindy Shea fell in love with Latin music and was discovered by Latin jazz legend Arturo Sandoval.
The Mariachi Divas film credits include “Julia” (performing “La Bomba”), “Mariachi Gringo,” and the independent film “Dead Man’s Shoe.”
