Enjoy musical partners of the late great pianist Jodie Christian, including his longtime friends, pianist Miguel de la Cerna, saxophonist Juli Wood, trumpeter Brad Goode, bassist Dennis Caroll, and drummer Charles Heath.
Jodie Christian, who died in 2012, was a legendary Chicago jazz pianist. He eschewed the limelight of New York and touring, and championed the jazz scene of Chicago. Christian played with the likes of Stan Getz, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Benny Carter and many more. He always referred to himself as a sideman, pushing soloists to new heights, but jazz lovers disagreed.
Christian founded the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, the influence of which spread around the world jazz scene. He was born into music, singing and playing in church and dancing on the streets of Chicago. He was one of the few jazz pianists who transcended style, playing with many different bands in his 60 year career.
