Ramsey Lewis, with his 80 albums, three Grammy Awards, and seven gold albums has been a force in jazz music for decades. He learned to play piano at age 6. He turned pro at age fifteen with The Cleffs. His first song hit was “With the In Crowd” in 1965. Two more hits, “Wade in the Water” and “Hang on Sloopy” sold more than a million copies each. The album “Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool,” with Herbie Hancock and Roy Ayers, was named Album of the Year by Time Magazine.
Saxophonist Gerald Albright has recorded with Anita Baker, Quincy Jones, Whitney Houston, and many others. Guitarist Peter White played on the Al Stewart hit “Time Passages.” Tenor sax player Vincent Ingala’s album “North End Soul” debuted in 2010. Singer Selina Albright, daughter of Gerald, grew up with music greats in her home. She has toured around the world.
