The Second City has been a Chicago institution since the early 1960s. The godmother of acting improvisation, Viola Spolin, founded an acting school and trained her own son, Paul Sills, in the art of improv. Sills hooked up with Mike Nichols and Elaine May at the University if Chicago, then graduated and founded The Second City, in Chicago’s iconic Old Town neighborhood. Alumna include Gild Radner, Stephen Colbert, John Belushi, Bill Murry and a cast of thousands!
