Chicago is a city teaming with a rich artistic culture heavily influenced by the diversity of the area’s past which served to shape Chicago into the city that it is today. In celebration of Chicago’s eclectic artistic roots, each year, Chicago’s Michigan Avenue hosts the Millennium Art Festival. Put on by Amdur Productions, the Millennium Art Festival takes place from May 31st to July 2nd and features a number of local artists and musicians.

Amdur Productions is an Illinois based company which has been supporting local Illinois artists for more than thirty years. With an emphasis on local art and its influence on Illinois, Amdur Productions hosts a number of art festivals in addition to the Millennium Art Festival. This year, Amdur Productions celebrates its thirtieth anniversary and festivities are shaping up to be even more exciting than previous years. Each festival gives local artists the chance to showcase their artistic talent while judges critique what is on display. Visitors to the area have the chance to view and purchase beautiful localy created artistic pieces for display in their own home.
Millenium Art Festival 2013
Featuring more than 150 exhibits of fine art and craft created by local Chicago Area artists, the Millennium Art Festival attracts more than 35,000 visitors each year. Since it’s inception five years ago, the Millennium Art Festival has given local Chicago artists the chance to showcase their artistic achievements for judgement by the festival’s jury as well as for purchase by festival attendees.
The artists selected to take part in the Millennium Art Festival are asked to submit a portfolio of their work in the months prior to the Festival which takes to Chicago city streets at the end of May. The festival’s organizers select the best artists for showcasing. The selection process makes entry to the Millennium Art Festival quite a prestigious honor.
Among this years talent are painters Robert and Michelle Casarietti who will be showcasing their work at booth 17 this year. Jewelry artist Diana M Ferguson will also be showcasing her work at the festival and her jewelry will be on display at booth 57. Local photographer, Jack Kraig, will also have his unique works of art on display and for purchase at booth 58. This is just a small sampling of the talent taking part in this year’s festival.
